CAMILA DE AZEVEDO
LCPC, CCATP | She/Her
Welcome! I’m Camila, psychotherapist and founder of Origem Psychotherapy. Origem, or “origin” in Portuguese, grew from a belief that healing happens when we meaningfully connect to our core roots, even (and especially) the ones we dislike.
Blending my theoretical foundation and a radical humanistic approach to therapy, my intention is to challenge rigidity, conformity and oppression in a compassionate environment.
I invite us both to put on our loving, exploratory hats and dive into your inner landscape together. I firmly believe that no one is a diagnosis; we carry stories and experiences in our bodies, and we are all afflicted by social pathologies.
My role is to be a supportive container, a curious ally, and a gentle nudger, as you lead the way towards a meaningful, aligned life.
So to summarize: if you are looking for therapy to “fix” you, I am probably not your person.
Well, you could say I started this journey as a child alchemist.
No, really.
Growing up in the 90s in Brazil as a neurodivergent queer girl meant a childhood full of potion mixing and pondering with the mysteries of the mind and human existence.
While the quest still remains, this journey took me to the field of psychology, where I have been practicing as a licensed professional counselor since 2016. And though I’m not quite the alchemist I once imagined, my curiosity about the workings of the mind led me to the study of psychedelics as a clinical tool. Today, I have the privilege of practicing as a certified provider of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy.
Outside of work, I love thrifting for retro or kitchy decor, lounging at the beach, or spending time with my wife, son and our two tuxedo cats Harley and Miko (who occasionally visits the office for healing cuddles).
How did I get here?
